Rug Care and Maintenance
To keep your shag rugs looking their best, we recommend using spray extraction with a wool-approved product for cleaning. Shedding is normal and will decrease over time, so avoid pulling the yarn as it may damage the rug. Canister vacuums without beater bars are the most effective in cleaning shag rugs, as upright vacuums with beater bars or brushes, or those set too low, may cause damage.
For other rug types, gently blot any spills with a clean white cloth, using lukewarm water for wool rugs and avoiding water or liquid on Viscose and Tencel rugs. Rinse with clean water and use dry towels to absorb any remaining moisture. Vacuum with the handheld attachment or turn off the beater bar for high-powered upright vacuums, and avoid vacuuming over the edges and fringes.
If your new area rug arrives with slightly curved corners due to packing, simply lay it out upside down for a couple of days to allow the fibers to relax and flatten naturally. Alternatively, you can place a heavy object, such as a book or furniture, on each corner for a couple of days to smooth out the curves.
