Rug Care and Maintenance
Shag Rugs: To clean shag rugs, use spray extraction with a wool-approved product. Shedding is normal and will decrease over time. Avoid pulling the yarn, as this may damage the rug. Canister vacuums without a beater bar are the most effective for cleaning shag rugs, as vacuums with beater bars and/or brushes, or those set too low, may cause damage.
General Rug Care: Promptly clean up spills and avoid rubbing. Gently blot the stain with a clean white cloth. Use lukewarm water for wool rugs and avoid using water or liquid on Viscose and Tencel rugs. Rinse with clean water and use dry towels to absorb any remaining moisture.
Vacuuming: Use canister vacuums without beater bars or gentle brooms. For high-powered upright vacuums, use the handheld attachment or turn off the beater bar. Avoid vacuuming over the edges and fringes. If the rug is reversible, vacuum both sides and use the handheld attachment for the fringes.
Removing Folds and Curls: To flatten curved corners, lay the rug out upside down for a couple of days to allow the fibers to relax and flatten naturally. Alternatively, place a heavy object, like a book or a piece of furniture, on each corner for a couple of days to smooth out the curves.
